Dragon Language (fictional)

Fus Ro Dah

lit. „force balance push”

The Skyrim 'dragon shout' that knocks enemies back with a wave of sound — and the noise people make while mock-shoving each other in a hallway.

Origine

In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the player's character is the Dragonborn — a chosen one who can absorb dragon souls and use the dragons' spoken language to cast 'shouts.' Fus Ro Dah is the first and most-used shout, an unrelenting wave of force that throws bandits off mountains. The voice clip — shouted in the made-up language — is shouted, deadpan, by Skyrim players at any opportunity. The Skyrim soundtrack's opening 'Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin' is recognizable from the same source.

Folosire modernă

Used by Skyrim fans as a literal verbal shove. The dragon-language alphabet (a Bethesda invention) has its own real fan tattoo community. Lives in the same gaming-meme neighborhood as 'Arrow in the knee' — both are Skyrim, both detached from their origin to anyone under twenty.
