Judas

The ultimate betrayer.

Origin

Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, betrayed Jesus to the authorities for thirty pieces of silver, identifying him with a kiss. He later hanged himself. The name has been synonymous with betrayal in the West for two thousand years.

Modern usage

Used as both noun and accusation — 'a Judas', 'don't be a Judas' — for any traitor, especially one from inside the circle.
